Lotus Yoga Pose

Lotus Pose (Padmasana), is the very characteristic of yoga. This position helps calm the mind and open up the hips.

The pose is said to increase circulation in the lumbar spine, nourish and tone the abdominal organs, strengthen ankles and legs and increase flexibility in the hips.

To perform the Pose, Sit on the floor with your legs straight out in front of you, back straight and arms at your sides.
Bend your right knee and bring it into your chest. Gently pull your right ankle to the crease of your left hip.
Bend your left knee and pull into your chest, resting it in the hip crease. Hold for some 5 to 25 minutes.

Since meditation is best performed while relaxed and still, Lotus Yoga Pose is considered the most ideal yoga pose for meditation.        Combining it with your favorite Mudra, WOW, you just can't but love it.
